Private transfers make luggage easier to move, but they do not remove station stairs, airport limits or the final walk to a hotel in an old town. Pack for the whole route and the way you will handle your own bag during its least convenient moments.
Build a small clothing system
Choose layers that work together and footwear already comfortable for prolonged walking. Check the expected conditions for each region, especially if the trip combines cities and higher landscapes. Include a compact rain layer and plan around confirmed laundry access instead of packing a separate outfit for every day.
Keep essentials in your day bag
Carry identification, necessary medicines, payment backups and the information needed to reach the next hotel. Add a charger, a suitable adapter and a small supply of practical items you use regularly. Follow the current airline and railway rules for batteries and restricted items; do not assume a product accepted on one leg is automatically permitted on another.
Leave room for the return
Choose luggage that closes easily before departure and reserve space for modest purchases. Label bags and keep a record of their appearance. Confirm vehicle luggage capacity with the actual number of cases, not just passenger count. Before leaving each hotel, check charging sockets, the safe and the bathroom. A lighter bag is not an achievement by itself; it is useful when it lets you move comfortably, find essentials quickly and spend less of the journey organizing possessions.
